    Kids’ vs. Adults’ Yoga

The way adults and kids practice yoga are worlds apart – especially the way we teach at YEAS Yoga. While adult yoga can be very focused on getting things right, YEAS channels that focus into doing our best. When each child brings their best, they are doing it right.

Here are some more differences you’ll see in a YEAS yoga class:

    • Concrete materials – foam cut-outs of hands and feet, choice boards, feathers, pom poms, eye masks, books, videos, dress-ups etc.
    • No adjustments – if a pose isn’t accurate, no big deal. We’ll get there eventually. We build on positives, we work on confidence because that’s how our children grow.
    • Slower pace – adult yoga classes can be very fast-paced, to the point of participants getting lost and overwhelmed.
    • Very few “yoga words” – apart from namaste, we don’t use any sanskrit.
    • No religious connotations – this practice is free of religion, and all participants are welcome to bring their own set of spiritual beliefs to the mat.
As you can see, our kids classes run very differently compared to adult yoga classes. If you were unsure about sending your child to a YEAS class because you are concerned about any of these things, rest assured that we foster a positive cooperative, environment that is intended to strengthen the children in every area of their lives.
